LAGOS STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING CELEBRATES 7TH CONVOCATION FOR FINAL MIDWIFERY COHORTÂ

​ The Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON), Igando middle of the week celebrated a significant milestone, hosting its 7th Convocation Ceremony for the final cohort of students within its Basic Midwifery Programme.
The ceremony honored the 2022 intake of students who have successfully completed three years of intensive academic and clinical training, qualifying them for professional practice in the healthcare sector.
In her welcome address, the Provost of the College, Dr. (Mrs.) Ogunmuyiwa Ayodeji, lauded the graduates for their academic achievements and professional readiness. She characterized the graduation as a testament to the students' discipline and sacrifice in navigating a rigorous curriculum.
​"This ceremony reflects your resilience and dedication," Dr. Ogunmuyiwa stated. She further urged the new midwives to embody the core values of compassion, competence, and integrity, noting that modern healthcare demands a blend of empathy and lifelong learning.
Representing the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, Mrs. Olubunmi Ibidapo-Obe a director in the ministry, delivered a goodwill message highlighting the shifting landscape of global health.
She emphasized that to remain relevant in an increasingly technology-driven field, the graduates must master ​digital literacy and data analysis, ​advanced clinical communication and ​commitment to Professional Growth
The Chairman of the LASCON Governing Council, Professor Olaide Edet, encouraged the alumni to view this graduation as a foundation for further academic pursuit. She cautioned against mediocrity, urging the cohort to remain proud ambassadors of the institution.
​Professor Edet also extended gratitude to the Lagos State Government, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Lagos State School of Nursing (Awolowo Road) Alumni for their sustained investment in nursing education infrastructure and curriculum development.
The event concluded with a presentation of awards recognizing exceptional student performance in various areas of academic excellence.
